A Unique History Lesson on the Party

2021-06-16

6On the afternoon of the 10th, the Party Committee of Kaifeng Instrument Co., Ltd. invited Chang Feng, the director of the Party History Research Office of Qi County, to give a unique party history education class for party and league members. More than 80 people, including members of the company’s Party Committee, branch committee members, party group leaders, and some party and league members, attended the class. Party Secretary Fan Zhiju delivered a mobilization speech for the party history education.

Director Chang Feng gave a lecture titled "The Unyielding 'Shuidong' During the Anti-Japanese War," recounting the story of the military and civilians bravely resisting the Japanese invaders in the 'Shuidong' anti-Japanese revolutionary base centered around Qi County. He first explained the origins of the 'Shuidong' revolutionary base. In early June 1938, the claws of the Japanese invading army reached eastern Henan, including Qi County, Suixian, Taikang, and Kaifeng. Chiang Kai-shek ordered the Nationalist army to blow up the dike at the Yellow River Huayuankou under the pretext of stopping the Japanese army's advance. The Yellow River water flowed down from Zhongmu to the Huai River, turning seventeen counties in eastern Henan into a marshy area, historically known as the Huangfan District. The area east of the Huangfan District, including Qi County, Suixian, and Taikang, was referred to as 'Fan Dong' by the Nationalists and 'Shuidong' by the Communists, with the revolutionary base established here called the 'Shuidong' revolutionary base. Next, Director Chang presented a series of relatively independent battle stories in chronological order, vividly showcasing the heroic deeds of the military and civilians in eastern Henan under the leadership of the Party, who fought bravely against the enemy and were not afraid of sacrifice, along with a large number of revolutionary figures such as Wu Zhipu, Peng Xuefeng, and Tang Kewi.

Finally, Director Chang summarized six reasons why the 'Shuidong' anti-Japanese base was able to maintain its red flag: First, it always adhered to the correct leadership of the Party; second, it maintained the correct line, principles, and policies; third, it had a people's army led by the Party that was invincible in battle; fourth, it strengthened the construction of political power based on local realities; fifth, the anti-Japanese national united front and enemy work policies were effectively implemented; sixth, the selfless dedication of the masses and the support from relevant units.

After attending this vivid party history class, many party and league members expressed that they had benefited greatly and were determined to carry forward the spirit and will of the martyrs, uphold the glorious tradition of not fearing difficulties and sacrifices, perform their duties well, and contribute their strength and wisdom to the development of the enterprise and the construction of the country.
